“I do voluntarily inlist myself into the Canadian Old Regiment…’
An American Revolutionary War enlistment form for the Canadian Old Regiment from the 1780s. 7” x 9”. Spotting, folding, and some minor tears on edges.
When the continental army dissolved non-state regiments, they were formed into the 2nd Canadian regiment, renamed the ‘Canadian Old Regiment’. The 2nd Canadian Regiment, was an Extra Continental regiment of the American Patriots' Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War. It was formed primarily from volunteers from the Province of Quebec and was commanded by Colonel Moses Hazen.
The regiment was active from 1776 to 1783 and participated in several key battles, including the Battle of Staten Island, Battle of Brandywine, Battle of Germantown, and the Siege of Yorktown. It was one of the few regiments directly funded and supplied by the Continental Congress rather than a specific state.
